Oh Yeah, FOOTBALL SUNDAY . . . .

Finally I can add another fantastic New York experience to my list, New York Giants! Yes, that is right I went to my very first NY Giants game against the Philadelphia Eagles and it ROCKED!!

It was the perfect day for football, freezing cold, over cast, light snow flurries, and yes it was bitter COLD!! Plus it was so windy that I got wind burn but it was so worth it. Ok, I know it is no Reliant Stadium, where every Sunday you pray for the roof to be open on a glorious 70 degree sunny afternoon, where you can rock the flip flops. Also on that prayer list you pray that the TEXANS don't fumble in the last 2.5 minutes that cost them the game. No offense guys but I still can't help remember the game against the Buffalo Bills back in '93 (I know that is when we were the Oilers . . . But I still love ya Blue!) and just recently the game in October, was it the Colts?

Susan and I bundled up, I miss flip flops!

Susan and I got to the game at the beginning of the 2nd quarter not by choice but thanks to Penn Station. Our train was not scheduled to leave for another 45 minutes.

Finally 1:11 approaches and we board our “luxurious” rail car, only to pick our seat very cautiously so we would not pick up any diseases. Not sure what is worse the seat on the train or the couch at a fraternity house, kinda of a toss up. Least it was only a 10 minute trip over to Seacuss and then an additional 15 minutes to the stadium.

Thanks to our sponsors, espcially RAFA!

Susan got us fantastic seats on the 40 yard line and 20 rows up. Something about old stadiums that make it feel more quaint, don't get me wrong I love our stadiums in Houston but there is something about stadiums that have been around forever, just an energy. Take for instance walking into the Astrodome, even though sports are not hosted there, unless you can call picking the shorter bar line at the Hideout a sport, there is something about the Dome that takes you back to the Glo ry Days! Who would disagree that the dome had the best scoreboard ever, it was ICONIC!! (If you don’t believe me watch this video on you tube and at 3:45mins into it you will see! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzKpQyOR03Q

Seriously the game was fantastic lots of solid moments when you though just maybe the Giant's would rally and hold the Eagles but fortunately for me they did not succeed. They had the opportunity when Tuck picked off the field goal attempt before halftime and scored a touch down. That I must say was the play of the game and finally the fans rallied.

Speaking of Giants fans, I was a little sad that they were not crazy fun people. Was it the cold, was it because Burress stupidly shot himself in the leg, or is it because they don’t have cheerleaders? Whatever it was I thought the fans were sad, and this poses the questions why do the Giants not have cheerleaders?

I mean the Texans and Cowboys have cheerleaders, why do the rest of the teams not have cheerleaders. I did find out later in the game (4th quarter to be exact) that the Patriots have cheerleaders and I guess the Titans have cheerleaders seeing along with stealing the Oilers (not mentioning names, stupid Bud Adams!) but I forgot the Derrick Dolls went with them too. So if you know the answer feel free to drop me a line (love it when I speak all blog!)

Speaking of that character, Burress, wonder how much I can get if I sell my ticket on e-bay seeing he was the player featured on the game ticket this weekend? No it is not for sale, it was just a question!

"Hi Eli"

As the second half began, we were ready to watch some more fabulous football, all I could do was silently cheer for the Eagles for the fear that a Giants fan would spot me. Good thing for me they were not paying attention, they were just trying to stay warm.

So by the end of the fourth in typical fashion the fans start filing out but only to be surprised when the Giants start rallying late in the final seconds of the fourth and score a touch down. Thankfully it was the final moments and the Eagles still walked away with a win which helped me move to #11 this week!

If you ever get the chance to go to a Giants or Jets game while in NYC, GO! It was fantastic despite the bitter cold, plus I was hoping for the chance that former UH QB, Kevin Kolb would take to the field in his Eagles jersey. Hopefully I will get a chance to see him play again.
