I had a fun and memorable birthday this past January and I have accepted the fact that I am now officially in my 30’s! I must say it was a blast even if there was an ice and snow storm.
Saturday evening I was racing home from Time Square after a very long day that I had to motivate myself to go out. We started the evening at Essex down on the Lower East Side followed by madness at the Mason Dixon.

Susan and me at Essex

Rosella, Courtney, Reggie and me at Essex
The Mason Dixon was insane especially waiting in line in the blistering cold for a bar that reminded me of Blanco’s meets Armadillo meets Kay’s, but with a mechanical bull (do you see where this is going?) We finally make our way in and meet up with Lynn and Trent who carved out space for us to hangout, when the banter began of me riding the mechanical bull. Of course everyone jumped on the bandwagon and was told we would not leave till I got up there and made Texas proud! Thanks to the liquid courage of a shot of Frangelica and maybe bourbon (not sure) provided by Courtney, I was led to one of my most embarrassing, mortifying, and hysterical, moments in my life by Rosella and Courtney, witnessed by Dusty, Lauren, Lynn, Trent, Reggie and the rest of the bar.
I signed my waiver to ride the mechanical bull of what could cause bodily injury, paralysis, and even death, paid my five dollars and made my way to the bull. I channeled my inner Sissy and mounted that bull with what little grace I had, and made an ass out of myself but it was well worth it! I lasted all of four seconds and I don’t think I will ever forget that ride. I am proud to say I rode that bull with one arm in the air and with my legs flying up in the air with every buck and that one turn, too bad there is not a video of this ride I am sure it would have made Continental’s Hard Luck Award.

Later in the month I went to my first Knicks game when they played the Houston Rockets and Equs! It was a great game and my Rockets were doing fantastic until the final three minutes of the game. Very disappointing but I was so excited to see a game.
I also was to the Knicks and Spurs game which was one of the most exciting games I have ever watched live! We went into overtime and the crowd was insane, but not very entertaining. I mean who goes to a game and passes out, sad thing is that it was still the first quarter! Eva Longoria was courtside cheering on her husband, and Fat Joe was leaning back with Woopie. The night of the Rockets game it was tennis legend Billy Jean King and the notorious bad boy on the court John McEnroe but then again we were celebrating Chinese New Year’s at that game.
Passed out Knicks fan at the Spurs game, not even the end of the first quarter!

Fat Joe is the big guy in the white shirt and Whoopie is one over from Mr. Lean Back, Lean Back now do the rock away!

Tucker and I saw Equs staring Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffith (he plays Uncle Dudley in the HP films). It was one of the most intense play’s I have been to and it was absolutely incredible. It is a heavy subject matter but watching Radcliffe and Griffith interact with each other is amazing and you see how many layers there are to this complex boy who is psychology messed up. I was so engrossed in their performances and content that you do forget you are watching “Harry Potter”.
I must say Anna Camp who plays opposite of Radcliffe and Lorenzo Pisoni were just as brilliant. And yes I did get the giggles when Radcliffe and Camp take their clothes off that Tucker actually pinched me! Plus I could not help but laugh when the moment finally presented itself due to the usher, who decided she needed to sit on the ledge in front of us and position herself to view Harry and his wand! I quickly composed myself even if it did seem like eternity of me giggling.
If it does come to a City near you I do recommend seeing it but if you are not a fan of live performances not mentioning any names, mostly my sister and my niece then you may not like this one either. But then again I would not take my eight year old niece to see it to begin with, she could barley sit through Mary Poppins on Broadway!
In February I attend my first New York Rangers game with Susan, Rosella and Lynn. Once again another fun evening of sports. I think they were playing a team from Florida but really don’t remember. However I was disappointed that there was no fighting that night, but then again Sean Avery is no longer with the Rangers. Fantastic game and the fans were much more lively that the Knicks.
Stayed tuned for the next posting seeing there is still more to come such as Emily’s bachelorette party, an evening at Saturday Night Live, and updating my apartment . . .
