One of those Nights . . .

So the past two weeks have been filled with a flurry of activity ranging from the Eagles Concert, SATC, Buddakan and Rose Bar, roaming the halls of Hotel Chelsea, and tomorrow the Belmont!

Courtney and I went to the Eagles concert at the Garden and it was FANTASTIC! Hotel California is one of my favorites but there are so many to choose from, and loved that fellow Texan, Don Henley played his songs from his solo career such as Boys of Summer and an all time favorite Dirty Laundry! Henley closed out the evening with the classic, Desperado.

SATC, what can I say . . . LOVED IT! I saw it twice and thought the second time around was brilliant. The clothes were beautiful especially the stunning wedding gowns, Carolina Herrera’s was my absolute favorite, and what about the closet that Big builds for Carrie, SUPER FABULOUS! I won’t say too much in case you are the one girl who has not scene it. At first I was not crazy about Jennifer Hudson, thought there were too many scenes with her but it turned out to be a good balance. Love the Song, All Dressed in Love, here is the link for your viewing pleasure, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCghSVTFrDs. Thanks Tucker for sending the new link, between the two of us I am sure it has been played a 1,000 times if not more.

Not sure what your movie experience was like, but here in New York the girls were dressed in everything from dressy jeans to sparkly dresses and heels! Needless to say I am sure there was a spike in Cosmopolitan sales over the weekend.

To keep the SATC momentum, the other night I was with Courtney, her sister and other Houston girls where the Cosmo’s were free flowing along with the Champagne! We started off at a fabulous brownstone in Gramercy and then made our way to Buddahkan, where the rehearsal dinner takes place for Carrie and Big. We sat at the center table in the dinning room, and the highlight was that I sat in the same seat as Big!! Loved Buddakhan, we sampled what seemed to be the entire menu and everything was amazing from the beef short ribs (YUM!), crispy calamari salad, edamame ravioli, pan seared seabass, and the list could go on and on. I highly recommend Buddakhan!

After our heavenly dinner we then made our way to Rose Bar at the Gramercy Park Hotel and it was packed for a Tuesday night. Rose Bar is beautiful and has perfect lighting that is flattering for all, and the DJ was spinning some great tunes, but if only he would have spinned some Hard Candy or Confessions of a Dance Floor maybe next time he will spin a little Madge!

From the Gramercy Park Hotel to the Chelsea Hotel, was can I say? From chic to shabby chic, but the history of the Chelsea Hotel is unbelievable. I think I have become obsessed with the history of the Chelsea. It was built in 1883 and was the first building to be listed on New York City as a cultural preservation site and historic building. If they were a creative genius, then they stayed there at one time or another: rock legends Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Jimmi Hendrix, Sid and Nancy (Nancy was stabbed there allegedly by Sid), Dee Dee Ramone, and one of my fav’s but not a legend yet Ryan Adams (not to be confused with Bryan Adams), writers such as Mark Twain, Dylan Thomas, Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, film director, Stanley Kubrick, actors, Ethan Hawke, Dennis Hopper, Uma Thurman, Jane Fonda, artist such as Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Wilem de Kooning, and Andy Warhol filmed several movies there.

We walked a majority of the floors and it is a night that I will never forget. Art work form the various residents adorn the staircase and hallways. Some say the floors look like an insane asylum because you have to go through doors to walk down the hallway that leads to the rooms.

I have heard that there is a ghost on the first floor, possibly Nancy and on the third floor is another ghost, Thom. Many residents have seen them, no telling what I would have done if I saw Thom or any of the other residents who haunt the halls. Rumor has it that the ghost, are upset about the new management and the threat of a renovation. Not that a few repairs would be horrible but they are talking of a major renovation; that would destroy the history of what has taken place.

I can only imagine what happened at the hotel between the drugs, deaths, and the music and art that was produced there. The Greatful Dead performed on the roof, and who knows what else happened up there, I know this sounds out there, but when we entered the hotel it was like Alice going down the Rabbit Hole entering this mysterious yet magical place, and NO I am not on drugs as I write this! I must say I could not help but think of Hotel California:

’relax,’ said the night man,We are programmed to receive. You can checkout any time you like,But you can never leave!

I am sure you might think I have lost my mind, but don’t worry tomorrow I will experience the Belmont in hopes for a Triple Crown, for Big Brown! I will give an up date on the Belmont over the weekend. On a side note the Puerto Rican parade is on Sunday!!!
